Haldi ka Doodh

There is no better home remedy of treating sore throat and common cold that turmeric milk. It is often served as a replacement for hot cocoa or coffee in winter to keep yourself warm.

Ingredients

  • ¼ tsp Cee Pee Haldi Powder
  • ¼ tsp Cardamom powder
  • 1/8 tsp Black pepper powder
  • 1 pinch ginger powder
  • 1 pinch Clove powder
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ¾ tsp honey or according to taste

Method

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together turmeric, black pepper, cardamom, cloves, ginger and all other spices.
  2. Heat milk in a pan over medium flame until heated. It will take about 3-4 minutes. Stir honey in milk until dissolved.
  3. Add 1 tsp of turmeric mixture in the pan, mix thoroughly, and reduce flame to medium-low.
  4. Cook until the flavours blend for around 2-3 minutes. Strain the mixture into a cup and enjoy the milk in the cold winters.

Yellow Rice

The vibrant yellow colour rice dish or peele chawal are not just visually appealing but very delicious too. It is commonly prepared as a lunch meal in many households and eaten with curd or any gravy dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup Basmati Rice, rinsed and soaked for 30 minutes
  • 8 cups Water
  • 2 tsp Salt or according to taste
  • ¾ tsp Cee Pee Haldi Powder
  • 2 Cloves
  • 3 Green cardamom
  • 1 tsp Cee Pee Cinnamon Powder
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil or Ghee
  • ½ tsp Cee Pee Mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp Cee Pee Jeera
  • ¼ tsp Cee Pee Kashmiri lal mirch
  • 1 medium sized Onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves of Garlic, chopped
  • ¼ cup coriander leaves, chopped

Method

  1. In a large pot, add 8 cups of water and salt and bring it to boil. Add rice and stir well.
  2. Add cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon and simmer for around 8-10 minutes.
  3. Check the rice after 8 minutes and keep it on flame until they are nice and fluffy. Not all water will be absorbed.
  4. Drain rice, rinse them with cold water and remove all the spices.
  5. In another large pan, heat oil on medium flame. Add mustard seeds, and cumin seeds and cook until mustard seeds start spluttering.
  6. Then add chopped onions and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until onion turns golden brown.
  7. Add garlic and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Now add chilli powder and mix well. Add rice and mix it again.
  8. Sprinkle turmeric powder over rice and mix well. Cook for about 3-4 minutes while stirring occasionally.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve fresh and hot.
